Maxine Holt
Senior Research Analyst
Butler Group

Maxine joined Butler Group in September 2000, where her current focus is on services, including service provision, outsourcing, and off-shoring, and IT risk management. In addition to this she has been involved in research and report production for the IT security and compliance areas. Prior to joining Butler Group Maxine gained over 14 years experience in the IT industry, employed by end-users and solution providers, working in a number of roles from analyst/programmer to consultant, in the financial and Internet sectors.

After obtaining a BTEC National Diploma in Computer Studies, Maxine joined a major building society’s IT department as an analyst/programmer utilising IBM mainframe technology. Whilst there she gained a good grounding in IT fundamentals, including structured methodologies and varying transaction-processing systems. This was followed by a spell at a credit-scoring consultancy, in a varied role ranging from gathering client requirements through to implementation and support. The systems worked on by Maxine provided significant exposure to client/server architecture.

Maxine then moved into the Internet sector, joining a large telecommunications company in a purely pre-sales role discussing requirements with clients and then suggesting the most appropriate solution to fulfil their needs. An opportunity then arose to join a major business Internet Service Provider, moving into a combination of pre- and post-sales environments. Maxine was involved in meeting with clients to discuss their requirements and writing reports on the most appropriate solutions. Furthermore, the analysis and technical design of the delivery was an area of responsibility, alongside continuing research into the Internet arena.

Since joining Butler Group Maxine has gained a great deal of expertise in the research areas of outsourcing, security, IT governance, and IT risk management, and combines her role as Senior Research Analyst with that of Research Team Manager.

During her career, Maxine studied for a HNC in Business & Finance and subsequently a BA (Honours) degree in Business Administration. Butler Group: Analyst Biography
