The saga of vendor consolidation continues in the world of SOA infrastructure providers. The latest event in this story is the announcement on 24 June 2008 that Progress is to acquire IONA. Because IONA is an Irish company the acquisition was conducted under Irish law, and this means that there was less opportunity during the announcement call for executives to be drawn on the detail than in a comparable North American acquisition.
