Consolidation is an inevitable side-effect of market maturity. When a market is young and dynamic it shows a growth rate that is well above the industry average. Coupled with the fact that in the early market, no vendor has yet achieved a significant market share lead, this attracts a large number of market entrants – both established vendors that wish to diversify, and start-ups that believe they have a unique capability that will be in demand.
