In order to keep pace with the new mobile devices and services, there is a need for faster and more reliable methods of connecting wirelessly. To this end wireless broadband is fast becoming a reality, allowing organisations to exploit the various wireless technologies to improve collaboration and productivity. In the past, 2G and even 2.5G technologies have not been able to offer sufficient data transfer rates. The last couple of years have seen enterprises investing in Wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions and operators investing in 3G technologies, which are able to offer greater network capacity at more competitive costs.
