A consumer trial of Near Field Communication (NFC) is being run by O2, which sees 500 Nokia 6131 NFC-enabled handsets being used by mobile phone subscribers for the first time in the UK. The Topaz NFC tags employed in the pilot have been developed and supplied by Innovision Research & Technology. The trial will allow users to put NFC to the test and to develop new, innovative ways to exploit the technology.
