IT Performance Optimisation (ITPO) is concerned with extracting optimum performance from IT in the broadest sense. The term covers software applications and the hardware they run on, going through to basic IT infrastructure such as the network and servers, and even services provided in support of IT.
There are many different kinds of problems that beset application performance, ranging from bugs, to database problems, and infrastructure issues. Butler Group’s ITPO Report examines these causes and shows how tools and best practice can overcome them. In addition, applications are increasingly Web-enabled, throwing up new challenges in supporting distributed components and Web services, and at the same time the IT department has to maintain legacy systems and enterprise applications.
